چکیده

We consider the control of interacting subsystems whose dynamics and constraints are decoupled, but whose state vectors are coupled non-separably in a single cost function of a finite horizon optimal control problem. For a given cost structure, we generate distributed optimal control problems for each subsystem and establish that a distributed receding horizon control implementation is stabilizing to a neighborhood of the objective state. The implementation requires synchronous updates and the exchange of the most recent optimal control trajectory between coupled subsystems prior to each update. The key requirements for stability are that each subsystem not deviate too far from the previous open-loop state trajectory, and that the receding horizon updates happen sufficiently fast. The venue of multi-vehicle formation stabilization is used to demonstrate the distributed implementation and simulation experiments are provided. The extension to handle coupling state constraints is also discussed.

Distributed Receding Horizon Control of Multiagent Systems

Multiagent systems arise in several domains of engineering. Examples include arrays of mobile sensor networks for aggregate imagery, autonomous highways, and formations of unmanned aerial vehicles. In these contexts, agents are governed by vehicle dynamics and often constraints, and the control objective is achieved by cooperation. Cooperation refers to the agreement of the agents to 1) have a ...

Distributed Receding Horizon Formation Control for Multi-Vehicle Systems with Relative Model

In this paper, a new distributed receding horizon formation control scheme is introduced using relative dynamical model instead of absolute dynamical model of each member robot in most existing formation control algorithms. Convergence of the proposed distributed receding horizon formation control (DRHFC) is implemented using some additional control input constraints, and the relative dynamical...

Distributed Receding Horizon Control of Connected Automated Vehicles with Discontinuous-gear Transmission

Connected automated vehicles (CAVs) have the potential to significantly benefit the road transportation. This paper presents a distributed control algorithm for a platoon of CAVs with discontinuous gear transmissions using the receding horizon optimization. A directed graph is used to describe the underlying communication topology among vehicles. Each vehicle is modeled as a third-order nonline...
